ONE DAY after Mental Health Awareness Day, Keith L is on watch after agonizing through a brutal Monday
Nighter. Week 5 had come down to the Monday Night game to determine the winner. Karen M (rooting for
Baltimore) and Keith L (rooting for Indy) settled in to watch their fate. The winner would take the top prize . . .
and the loser would go home with squat . . . Valerie A was assured of 2nd Place. After a dull first half, the
fireworks began. Indy scored, then, in a crazy sequence of events, the Ravens drove to the 1-yard line,
fumbled the ball . . . it was picked up by Indy, then lateraled, then run in for a 99-yard TD, then called back
by the refs . . . then a quick touchdown by the Colts, 22 - 3! Indy looked like a SURE WINNER . . . but the ups
and downs had just started! A blocked Indy field goal . . . three lightning-fast Raven touchdowns with two 2-point
conversions . . . and the score was tied 25 - 25. With seconds left in the game, the Colts drove to short field goal
range and the stage was set for an easy Indy win, but . . . NO! . . . ANOTHER MISSED FIELD GOAL! Then overtime,
then another Ravens touchdown, and the game was over. Karen M claimed the top prize and Keith L was last seen
in a corner, babbling to himself, something about "How can this be happening? . . . highest weekly average in the pool . . .
and STILL can't win one!" Ahh, life in the football pool is not easy . . . you just have to accept the fact that sometimes
you're the pigeon . . . and sometimes you're the statue. Good luck to all in Week 6.
NOTE: Another London game this week (Dolphins vs. Jaguars).
ALL SUNDAY PICKS ARE DUE ON SATURDAY
